FACILITIES

In February 2004 Solvent Innovation moved into its new laboratories and office rooms at the Biocampus Cologne, which provide about 600m² for its production and research.

The laboratories are dedicated to ionic liquid production including quality assessment and application research.

Ionic liquid production: Solvent Innovation is using a state of the art production facility with feedstock cleaning units, several reactors and advanced product processing devices.

The reactor range covers a 100 liter, a 25 liter and several 10 liter reactors all equipped as mulitpurpose systems in order to cover various kinds of customers' demands.

Quality assessment: Based on its long experience Solvent Innovation is one of the leading experts in the quality assessment of ionic liquids. The company has developed and applies advanced methods to guarantee the purity of its products with respect to halide- and water-content, amine feedstock residues and other impurities. Solvent Innovation's products are routinely analyzed by a combination of HPLC, ion chromatography as well as Karl-Fischer-titration and GC headspace for volatile impurities.

For special purposes and customer research projects other methodologies such as NMR-spectroscopy, UV-Vis-spectroscopy, IR-spectroscopy, AAS-ICP, cyclovoltammetry devices and other methods can be provided as well.

Application research: Solvent Innovation provides a state of the art laboratory for application research. Depending on the customer's demand and its own strategic research goals this equipment is continuously expanding.

The equipment at the Cologne site includes e. g. viscosimetry, density and conductivity measurement devices.
