"The rapidly growing interest in our products required us to expand the capacities of our facilities." Dr. Claus Hilgers, CEO of Solvent Innovation stated. "Cologne provides very good basic conditions for innovative start-up companies and the BioCampus Cologne offers comprehensive solutions to our special needs." Moreover Dr. Hilgers emphasized: "This is a good time to express my special thanks to the RWTH Aachen. We are grateful for the excellent support that we have experienced in the last four years." On the BioCampus Cologne, several biotechnology and life-science oriented companies have already settled among them Amaxa GmbH Direvo Biotech AG and Operon GmbH. At our facilities, currently ten employees work on 600 m2 of lab- and office space. Solvent Innovation is a leading supplier in the development, production and marketing of ionic liquids. It launched its integrated proprietary AIMFEETM -technology in June 2002 to develop economically more efficient and ecologically friendly methods for the production of pharmaceuticals, chemicals and fuels. Solvent Innovation was founded in 1999 by Prof. Peter Wasserscheid and Dr. Claus Hilgers and is based in Cologne, Germany.
